In a statement regarding the incident, the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure announced that "only material damage occurred in this incident, and the situation is being monitored."

In the statement from the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, it was mentioned: "The 80-meter-long cargo ship AYED 1, sailing from Batumi to Saudi Arabia, and the 180-meter-long bulk carrier BUNUN ACE, sailing from Spain to Batumi, brushed against each other in front of Üsküdar. Our KURTARMA-2, KURTARMA-5, and MEHMETÇIK tugboats, as well as the KEGM-4 fast rescue boat from the General Directorate of Coastal Safety, were promptly dispatched to the scene. The ships will be towed to the Ahırkapı Anchorage area. Only material damage occurred in this incident, and the situation is being monitored."
