The tanker Cordelia Moon, sailing from Yalova to Russia, experienced a malfunction near Yeniköy, leading to the suspension of vessel traffic in both directions through the Bosphorus on Thursday.

In a statement by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, it was noted: "Due to a malfunction of the tanker Cordelia Moon, en route from Yalova to Russia and experiencing issues near Yeniköy in the Bosphorus, vessel traffic in the Istanbul Strait has been temporarily suspended in both directions."

Built in 2006, the Cordelia Moon sails under the Panamanian flag.

The vessel is 274 meters long and 54 meters wide, with a weight of 163,288 tons.

In Istanbul, the last incident occurred on Thursday, October 3, when two cargo ships collided.

According to reports, the incident near Üsküdar involved a cargo ship whose rudder had jammed, causing it to drift toward the shore.

Local media reported that there were no casualties or injuries in the incident, and the ships involved would be towed to Ahırkapı in Yenikapı.
